As you may know, the Okanagan Valley is the heart of the wine industry in British Columbia. The wineries drawing the most attention tend to be the large corporate wineries, the ones with a huge marketing budget that take advantage of their size and purchasing power to create an industrial volume of wine to be sold in Canada and beyond. While some of these wines are good, they are not the type of wines we feature at Okanagan Wine Club. We’re different. We like the little guy. The passion. The dedication. The desire to produce a world-class wine that people like you will love. We work tirelessly to share their stories, raw and direct, taking you behind the scenes and showing you the true story – not a blurb from some corporate marketing department. By highlighting these hidden gems of the Okanagan wine industry, we are giving you a chance to taste the work of small, local, passionate winemakers and owners who are dedicated to producing wines that belong on the world stage.
We (Ivan and Steph) travel up and down the Okanagan Valley in BC tasting wines, meeting owners/wine makers, and deciding who to bring to you (tough job we know). Once we find WINES and PEOPLE we love, we create a beautiful video about their back stories, passions, and unique approach to wines.

Ricco Bambino is a different type of winery. Newly opened in the heart of downtown Kelowna, this is the Okanagan’s first urban winery. Every vintage, they select only the best organic grapes from vineyards throughout the South Okanagan Valley. With quality grapes and a light winemaker’s touch, Ricco Bambino has a portfolio of electric, terroir-driven wines.
Black Market Wine Co is all about breaking the rules. For years, Calgarians Rob Hammersley and Michelle Shewchuk enjoyed vacations in the Okanagan because they loved to seek out small wineries that didn’t distribute outside of BC based on their tiny size. Rob often tells the story of filling their vehicle to the brim with hard-to-find wine and pinning across the provincial border back to Alberta.
Daydreamer Wines is a small, family-owned winery in Naramata. Winemaker and co-owner Marcus Ansems makes fine wine in small batches with organic grapes. Since 2013, Daydreamer Wines have been well known for being unique, balanced and delicious. They grow Chardonnay and Pinot Noir at the home vineyard in Naramata and purchase grapes in the South Okanagan that are particularly suited to ripen well at specific vineyard plots. All of the grapes come from vineyards free of fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides.
